The Innotek BC-50B is Innotek’s entry level bark collar and is basically a non-rechargeable version of the more expensive Innotek BC-200 Bark collar. The collar reasonably priced for a bark collar with a progressive correction and a vibration sensor. However, the sensor is not sufficiently sensitive and often does not trigger. We also find the battery life a bit lacking and the absence of any controls on the collar are limiting as well.

Bark Sensor
The Innotek BC-50B Bark collar uses a vibration sensor that detects vibrations in a dog’s vocal cords when he barks. This sensor is integrated into the collar prongs rather than being a separate dedicated sensor probe or pad. This design appears to reduce the sensitivity of the sensor. In testing, we found the collar to frequently miss barks and not trigger. Obviously this is an issue as it reduces the consistency of the stimulations and therefore the results of using the collar.

Battery
The Innotek BC-50B is powered by a 6V alkaline battery that costs around $5, and the first battery is included in the package. The battery is changed by unscrewing a circular cover using a coin or a screwdriver. The battery life is approximately one month. Unfortunately since the collar has no controls, it cannot be easily switched off between uses to save battery life.
Collar Prongs
The Innotek No Bark collar comes with a single set of medium sized prongs that should work well with all but the longest hair dogs.

Bark Correction
The Innotek BC-50B No-Bark Collar has seven correction levels. The collar automatically increases or decreases the stimulation level based on past experience, an advanced feature rarely see on low end collars.
However, the Innotek BC-50B does not have an option to override this learning setting. This means that you do not have the ability to set the correction level manually, something useful for more hard headed dogs where you want to be able to have an initial strong correction. You can reset the collar back to the lowest level, but it requires you to remove the collar, unscrew the battery cover and take the battery out. There is no way to make the collar default to a higher level. The collar has no tone sound to alert you to when the collar is triggered. A tone is more useful than an indicator light because you can be alerted to the collar triggering even when you aren’t looking at the dog.Collar Band
The collar has a cloth band with a metal buckle type clasp. The band is fully removable, and can be taken off the collar for cleaning

Conclusion
Although seemingly a good collar at this price point, the Innotek BC-50B No Bark collar suffers from an ineffectual bark sensor. On a positive note, the BC-50B is compact, has a learning correction, and a removable cloth collar. Unfortunately, the inconsistent bark sensor makes this collar difficult to recommend.
